Telescopic pixel: The end of LCD and plasma displays?

Researchers from MIcrosoft and the University of Washington are working on developing a new display technology called “telescopic pixel”, that transmits over 36% of backlight radiation, 10% being the current highest peak for LCDs. This technology is based on the optic telescope, every pixel being formed by 2 opposing mirrors , the first mirror being able to shape its form under different applied voltages. When the pixel is off, the 2 mirrors, being parallel, reflect all the incoming light back to its source. Read more
