Logitech gives your notebook more comfort

December 8, 2008

comfort lapdesk 290x193I own a Macbook and after some time the thing gets so hot, that you can easily boil an egg on it, if you turn it upside down.

So I guess it’s about time to look for a lapdesk. But any lapdesk won’t just do. It has to be white, shinny and with four-layer heat shield design. But, wait, I want more: the desk would not only have to keep my Mac cool, but  I would also like an inner airflow chamber combined with some sort of surface that makes contact with my laptop in all its four corners,a twelve-degree angled riser, and it has to be thin ! How about it?

Logitech Comfort Lapdesk can do all that for just $ 39.99. Yummy !

Specs:
Four-layer heat-shielding design: Protect your body from unwanted heat from your notebook so you can work or play comfortably with your notebook on your lap.
Twelve-degree angled riser: Position your notebook to a viewing angle that’s more comfortable for your neck and legs (when used in a seated position).
Stable, lightweight design: Use your notebook comfortably just about anywhere—on your sofa, bed, or even the floor.
Soft, air-mesh fabric: The underside of the Comfort Lapdesk feels great on your legs.

Style
Thin, streamlined profile: This compact solution will look good in any room in your home and can be stored neatly near your bed or couch.

Toshiba: three-GPU, four-core laptop

November 10, 2008

tosh q708 290x248It seems that 2 graphic cards in one single laptop is kinda overrated and some people decided to integrate 3 in one single portable device.
Toshiba are the ones behind this madness , having two Nvdia 9800M GT that operate together in SLI mode, and also a third graphic processor, the 9400 M ( the same chipset used in Apple’s recently released dual-GPU MacBook Pro). Read more

The new MacBook can handle 6 GB RAM

October 31, 2008

macbookpro 290x222The Nvidia chipset in the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros  theoretically can support 8GB of RAM, but on the other hand  Apple stated that the  capacities for each are maxed at 4GB.
The truth is not out there, its right in the middle.
Chip supplier Ramjet has tested and officially confirmed that the new MacBooks can support 6GB RAM via one 2GB module and one 4GB module.

Ramjet’s tests proved that 8GB of RAM in a notebook will put your OS X into overdrive, becoming unstable for actual use. But with 6GB  it is indeed a big boost of performance: a fresh new 4GB 1066 SO-DIMM paired with a 2GB; the performance gained by having an extra two gigs negates the performance loss that tends to follow from having an unmatched pair of differently sized modules.

If you wanna go on this path, this combo will cost around $675 at Ramjet ($600 for the 4GB module alone). But it is doable !
