iDateMe: iPhone fights hackers with…sex

I don’t want to hide behind text, I’ve seen my share of crap applications for the iPhone and although I love it, I still can get surprised. It’s the case of this application, codename iDateMe. iDateMe comes dressed up like a Trojan app, showing a photo with 2 people doing sex, while claiming to connect to a date site. In reality, the application says that it lures the iPhone hackers into opening it and revealing their location. Now, I don’t think this is a bad ideea and I find it quite funny, but seriously, who will fall for this? Also, was this silly picture really necessary? If you want to lure men into staying on a app, upload a 1 h porn movie so you can go personally to that location and beat them with a stick.

Anyway, I’m not blaming developers, Apple should filter its App Store more seriously, while it’s doing a “great” job with apps such as Opera Mini, it overlooks crap applications such as this one. And while I didn’t tried this app, I won’t be amazed if they find it was really a Trojan to fool the people that wanted to fool! Epic I’ll say..
