Multimedia dentists: Watch TV and ads in the dentist chair!

I can’t say I’m surprised, 2009 is coming around the corner, technology evolves daily and the human being hungers for multimedia even when sleeping. My last visit to the dentist took place almost 1 year ago  (ya, i’m kinda healthy) and they introduced me to the new dentist “hud display”, a 22″ wide monitor, where they presented me my mouth, my broken tooth and a movie!

I know not all dentists are tech savvy and maybe some are just old school, but hey, the time has come for dentists to feed the multimedia hunger. It’s a known fact that many are affraid of dentists, how about draw them with some DVD movie, one they didn’t saw, or maybe, a PS3 video game (tho it could stimulate the pacient into moving, so not very good).

Matthew Leader, owner of InChairTV, wants to make the dentist a more media-friendly place. inChairTV supplies dentist offices with DVDs and a set of LCD-powered glasses, that totally “absorbs” the patient into watching, without hearing or seeing the dentist tools that wonder in his mouth. Now, inChairTV announced they will allow any interested advertiser into running 30 sec to 60 sec ads, priced similar with broadcast TV (hey, there’s an ideea!).

Now, while this ideea seems pretty cool and stupid at the same time, I wait for the moment when we will see Google Ads when visiting our dentist..seriously
