EU targets iPhone/iPod batteries

apple-logo-290x290Looking at my iPod and I already know that at some point I will have to go through  the “changing  battery” hell, and that’s all because of Apple’s iPod design.

I would have preferred some easy way of battery swapping just like my good old Nokia has.
It seems I’m not completely alone in my dilemma, the European Union thinks the same, and it proposed “New Batteries Directive,” which mandates that batteries in electronic appliances need to be “readily removed” and that would force Apple to change the iPod’s design for the European market.

The European Union applies a “green” sticker to the matter and wants to help consumers dispose properly of batteries, which could end up leaking toxins into landfills.

Apple might have an answer for all this because you see, they already offer free recycling for its ipods and iphones, and supports third-party waste management as well.

You can get a new battery for your Ipod I just replaced my ten minutes ago. It is possible to buy a specific battery for your generation Ipod and they will usually come with tools to help you open your Ipod and then you can either get directions or watch a video on youtube.com to see just how to replace it. Very simple.

Yes, Katie you are indeed right. My problem was that Apple in its effort to keep its sleek design,it is almost impossible for its owners to open up and replace the battery by themselves(see iPod touch :)). But thanks on the heads up, ill make some adjustments to the article.

Heh, changing the battery on iPod Touch is not an easy thing to do. You shouldn’t do the battery swap thing by yourself. You should do this:
