Nintendo can boost your math skills
What can you do if your child sucks at math? One solution might be to buy him a Nintendo. Yes, that’s correct, children playing on Nintendo can significantly improve their maths skills and extend their attention spans.
Researchers discovered that a 20-minute problem-solving session on the game “Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training” at the start of each day can dramatically raise the pupils’ test scores.
600 primary school pupils in 32 schools were tested and children aged nine and 10 completed a maths test before the nine-week project, and then again afterwards. The pupils also finished the test much more quickly than those who did not have access to the game.
“It shows teachers needn’t be afraid to use technology in the classroom.”It’s had a really positive effect. The children settle much more quickly, they concentrate better and are more motivated.”I have a Nintendo DS at home and I was already a fan, but it’s been a great tool in the classroom. I think it’s something we should see used in more schools”(Derek Robertson, LTS’s national adviser for emerging technologies and learning).
So , there you have it, let that child of yours play console games all day, he will become a scientist anyways.
