The video games industry slows down a little
NPD Group, market researcher, has released some data regarding this month’s industry sales and its peaks. it seems like the video game software and hardware recorded its smallest monthly increase in more than 2 years. The sales in August 2008 rose up to $1.08 billion, up with almost 9 percent.
The game software sales were about $551 million according to the same source, led by the hardware sales with almost $395 million. The champion in the hardware department was and still is, the Nintendo DS which sold 513,300 units, the software sales having also a best seller, Madden NFL 09 from EA Games.
“Despite smaller growth this month, the industry is up 32 percent year-to-date and remains on target to achieve annual revenues in the range of $22 billion to $24 billion,” - NPD analyst Anita Frazier.
