A Facebook obituary: Footnote

footnote-launch-290x58Some time ago, social networks were a “future thing”, but now, everyone of us has at least one account to one of those popular networks such as Facebook. While Footnote is not a new website, they stepped up into the social networking with a rather “not-ordinary” idea. Footnote wants to be an advanced obituary, allowing users to set-up memorials of the lost family or friends and..more!

Footnote gathers timelines you can match up with a person’s life and you can also attach public records to a person’s profile. Footnote’s spoke person stated that the site has more than 80 million profiles online, available only on this specific site. While I personally find the idea good, I don’t quite get it why they needed to make a site only for this.

There are several websites out there with huge people’s databases, family trees and timelines and, this type of “filtering” or “expansion” can be added on an existing social network such as MySpace or Facebook.
