The Earth in 7.6 billion years
I’m quite sure that in a few billion years, when the transformed humans and aliens (those who came in peace) will discover the ancient data base of Techcurse, they will be amazed of our predictions. To be honest not really our predictions but we have some inside info from a team of scientists who discovered that the sun is expanding and brightening, and over the next few billion years it will eventually dry out Earth, leaving it hot, brown and uninhabitable.
In 7.6 billion years, our sun will reach its maximum size as a red giant: its surface will extend beyond Earth’s orbit today by 20 percent and will shine 3,000 times brighter. In its final stage, the sun will collapse into a white dwarf.
What about Earth? There are some scenarios in which our planet escapes vaporization, but in the latest analyses, however, it does not.
So, 7.6 bilion might be a long time but can we save our home planet?
Don Korycansky of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and his colleagues have proposed nuking Earth with an asteroid, programmed to pass nearby periodically. This could take one billion years to move our planet out to somewhere safe, like the orbit of Mars. Sadly our moon, might have to be left behind, and any miscalculation could mean extinction.
Well, aren’t we are thinking too far into the future? After all, we are talking about 7.6 Billion years here. Humanity as we know it, have only evolved since a few thousand years. Maybe we should focus on what will happen to Earth in a few hundred years, where the future ain’t that bright either.
