Ever looking for Book Trailers?
Browsing the other day on Youtube for trailers and such, I discovered an interesting new trend, the “Book Trailers”. Maybe they were here all along and I haven’t noticed it…
As I went further and further with my browsing I noticed that some of the trailers were pretty good but then again most were not. Now, I know that the accessibility of the tools in our days makes it easier to create and publish videos but I don’t think that most of these trailers are representing their books as they should. Most of them were simply poor attempts at imitating movie trailers.
Or you can have it the other way around, a very good trailer that doesn’t make up for a crap book.
So, anyone can make a book video, but not just anyone can make a book video effective.
I don’t want to waste your time with comments on stuff like the Duma Key trailer which entices us with all the expected blood but doesn’t mention how quickly the book puts you to sleep.
Instead, here’s a pleasant surprise:
Of all the browsed trailers this one amazed me the most AND it made me curious enough to actually order the book. It felt like watching a short documentary about our near future. Quite the hook for my elitist intellectual approach to technology. Further research led me here: http://www.seedsanthology.com/.
That’s my Catch of the week-end, a smart book with a smart trailer attached. Or the other way around. Hey, who knows, maybe we’ll get dvd’s with action previews inside the covers of the books that we’ll buy in the years to come.

[...] Ciprian Rosu of the Techcurse blog found the Seeds of Change trailer and likes what he sees: "Of all the browsed trailers this one amazed me the most AND it made me curious enough to actually order the book. As an author and filmmaker, I love book trailers.
That’s why we’ve created a brand new service called http://www.brandingshorts.com. We create exciting book trailers author’s can afford.
Here’s the one we created for my novel, THE ROAD TO JUDE, a story about heaven after 911.

And another we created for a romantic comedy novel, Sabrina’s Destiny:
