The new multimedia Nokia phones : N79 and N85

Fighting in a multimedia war that’s clearly dominated by the iPhone 3G it is kinda hard to keep up as a competitor, but Nokia won’t give up the fight that easy. On October The N79 and N85 will go on sale, this new “weapons” will become the upgrades of Nokia’s older models with 5 megapixel cameras and pre-loaded games.

The prices are: N85 will retail for 450 euros ($662), (excluding operator subsidies and taxes) and the N79 will go on sale for 350 euros.

The news concerning these two new models lifted shares in Nokia more than 2 percent on Tuesday as it reassured investors the company was on its track to refresh the offering for the key Christmas sales period.

“All manufacturers are trying to sustain or extend their high-tier device portfolios because of the higher margins they offer. Furthermore in saturated markets, in Western Europe and North America replacement sales depend on offering consumers something compelling over and above voice and text.” ( Ben Wood, research director at CCS Insight)
