Direct X 11 is here !
If DirectX 10 was starting to get old, Microsoft broke the silence and unveiled the first details about the new version at the GameFest event that took place in Redmond.
What can we expect? Full support for Windows Vista of course, future versions of the popular operating system and you wont need to worry your graphic card because DirectX 11 will recognize DirectX 10 or 10.1 cards; “new compute shader technology” where the “developers can take advantage of the graphics card as a parallel processor”. That is not all, also “multi-threaded resource handling that will allow games to better take advantage of multi-core machines” , “support for tessellation”that will refine models to be smoother and more attractive when seen up close”.
All in all this is great news but until its official release i hope Microsoft will do some Vista polishing.
Fingers crossed !
