DisappearTankBy the end of 2012,the UK’s Ministry of Defence promised they will build the first operational invisible tank. Last week, in secrecy, the British Army made a tank completely “dissapear” into the battlefield. The technology is currently under development and will only be used in testing purposes, at this moment. They are also working on making invisible troop jackets, making the battlefield a bit more “challenging”.

I reality, this technology is using multiple cameras and projectors, which take shot of the surrounding field and projects them onto the tank. A soldier who was present at the tests said: “This technology is incredible. If I hadn’t been present I wouldn’t have believed it. I looked across the fields and just saw grass and trees - but in reality I was staring down the barrel of a tank gun.”

The brain behind this technology is Professor Sir John Pendry, of Imperial College London, who also states that currently, this technology relies entirely on the cameras and projectors but it can be improved in the future. It’s clear that warfare and its technologies will suffer immense improvements in the upcoming years and we can expect such movie-like technologies to be included in our real life.
